THE MK2 SYSTEM

The MK2 are self-contained compressed air b.a. to be used in case of oxygen deficiency or in highly contaminated environments. Owing to the versatility of use and easy operation they are the basic equipment for fire-fighters and rescue teams.

They are also suitable for routine interventions in chemical plants and to evacuate premise wherever the staff may be exposed to dangerous toxics. MK2 B.A.come in the RN, BVF, RC and RL versions that mainly differ in the duration.

They are manufactured with the latest CAD-CAM technology and they largely exceed the international standards and particularly, EN 137.
Copies of the declaration of conformity are available on request.

The B.A of the MK2 series are CE-marked as per the directive. 686/ on p.p.e.
Same models are marked MED and comply with SOLAS prescriptions for the safeguard of human life at sea.

MAIN COMPONENT PARTS OF THE MK2 SYSTEM

DEMAND VALVE WITH  AUTOMATIC INSERTION OF THE POSITIVE PRESSURE MK2 B.A. are equipped with a demand  valve that automatically turns the positive pressure on at the first breathing in. Rubber button in front of the demand valve allows, if necessary, to manually activate positive pressure or to inject extra air into the mask.

A positive pressure is kept within the mask cavity in any moment of the breathing cycle.

This avoids the inward leakage of polluted air and isolates the user from the surrounding atmosphere.

PANORAMIC FULL FACEMASK
The mask is a panoramic full facepiece, fitted with preloaded exhale valves, in order to maintain a positive pressure within the mask cavity.

All mask are CE certified according to ENI 36:98 as class 3.

Available models:

  • TR82 A or  TR2002 A mask: connected to the demand valve by means of a standard M45x3 connector
    (ENI 48-3)

  • TR2002 BIN mask: connected the  demand value by means of a special quick connector to DIN 58600. This mask can also be used in conjunction with gas canisters or negative pressure breathing apparatus, being also fitted with a standard EN 148-1 connector.
A unique patented system automatically adopts the valve load the the type of apparatus connected to the mask.

TR 2002 A and TR 2002 B/N full facemasks are available in two versions, with faceblank moulded in EPDM rubber or in silicone.
The masks moulded in silicone are named TR 2002 S A and TR 2002 S B/N.

UNIQUE PATENTED WARNING DEVICE AT THE MASK
When the remaining pressure I the cylinder drops below 60 Bar (35 Bar for model RC), a special device inside the demand value actuates the acoustic warning.

A loud vibration is made with every inhalation and terminates only when the air reserve is completely used up. The advantages of such a system are:

  • No air loss due to the warning whistle: longer duration.
  • Closeness to the ear and repeated warning: best audibility.
  • Warning device protected from frost and dirt deposition: Function granted under all circumstances.
  • Warning device working with extension hose even at a long distance from cylinders: granted audibility to the user.

COMPENSATED PRESSURE REDUCER
The MK2 reducer is a piston  device with automatic compensator.

This means that the utlet pressure is steady throughout the duration, no matter what the cylinder pressure.

The reducer is designed for use with 300 Bar cylinders and fitted with EN 144 high
pressure connectors.

SAFETY QUICK CONNECTORS
The demand value is connected to the pressure reducer by means of special quick connectors that can only be separated with both hands.

Quick connectors are of a special design to avoid inadvertent connection to other brands’ systems.

PHOSPHORESCENT GAUGE
The pressure in the cylinder can be checked at any time by means of the special gauge scaled up to 450 Bar and with contrasted  warning zone from 6 to 0 Bar.

SIMPLEFIED MAINTENANCE
The information booklet that comes with every B.A., gives a schedule for the correct maintenance of the set.

SPASCIANI offers a wide network of authorized workshops to ensure a rapid and reliable service.

FOR WAY VALVE
Supplied on request, interposed between the demand valve and the pressure feducet, allows feeding a second man or connecting the b.a. to an air line.

The air feeding is automatically switched from cylinder to airline (or vice versa) when connectin (or disconnecting).

Avery interesting application is the use with RC and BVP. In this case the use of BVP ensure that even in case of failure of the manin air supply the user can count on a further autonomy of some twenty minutes to escape from the polluted area.

It is also possible, on demand, to set the reducer so that the warning at the mask is immediately activated in case of failure of the main air supply.

RN MK2

Self contained breathing apparatus with a variable duration depending on volume of cylinder(s) fitted.

For use in fire-fighting, in maintenance  operation of chemical plants, in rescue, in rescue interventions in case of catastrophes or in any case of severely contaminated or oxygen deficient environment.

ANATOMICALLY SHAPED BACKPLATE
The backplate, in blow-moulded polypropylene, polypropylene, is anatomically shaped to give a comfortable distribution  of masses and remain steady on the user’s  back even when crouching or crawling.

VARIABLE DURATION
The backplate  is designed to accept, without any special adapter, one cylinder having a diameter ranging from 110 to 170 mm.

With  the help of a special buffer and a high pressure T manifold, one can fit two 110mm cylinders ( twin set).

For twin sets of bigger capacity  a special flame resistant strap is necessary to hold  cylinders.

This allows choosing the best duration to satisfy anyone’s need. The duration can vary, according to the cylinder capacity as shown in the table.

SPECIAL MEDIUM PRESSURE OUTLET
A special medium pressure outlet, normally plugged, allows feeding a second mask.

USE WITH EXTENSIONE TUBE
By interposing an extension tube the wearer can walk up to 50m away from the cylinder, entering awkward places while keeping the acoustic warning at the mask.

CARRYING CASE WALL CABINET
On request RN MK2 B.A. can be delivered in a robust ABS case for transport and storage.

As an alternative , there is also a cabinet for the storage of the set in the  ready for use condition.

BVF MK2

Self contained breathing opparatus especially designed for short interventions, for escape or as an extra safety feature in air line systems or RC B.A when combined  with a four way vilve.

HARNESS
Made of  a shoulder strap and a waist-belt of strong flame-resistant fabric.

DURATION
The b.a. is fitted with one 3 litres cylinder at 300 Bar for a duration of 30 mins.

RC

The RC respirator can feed one or two men depending on the auxiliary outfits chosen.

Suitable for long duration interventions or where the encumbrance of cylinder backplate impedes the access or movements.

The MK2 warning system at the mask advises directly, the users of the imminent air exhaustion avoiding the needs of an external attendant.

A special device, placed by the cylinder, repeats the warning to catch the assistants attention..

VARIABLE DURATION
Trolleys can be fitted with one or two cylinder of 50 liters 200 bar or two cylinders of 6 liters 300 Bar. This allows choosing the best duration to satisfy anyone’s need.

The duration can vary from 55 minutes (model 263 with two operators) to 11 hours (models 25002 with one operator).

TROLLEY
The trolly is made of the following items:

  • Pressure reducer RB with EN 144 connectors
  • High and medium pressure gauges.
  • Reel for up to 50 m 8x17 hose.
  • Female quick couplings for the hoses.
  • Case for the personal outfits (not available in RC 2603).
  • Wheels for easy movement.
  • Acoustic warning to catch the assistant’s attention.

AUXILIARY PARTS
  • MK2 Demand valve with RR202 A mask with built –in  warning device.
    (See description MK2 system).
  • MK2 Demand valve with TR2002 B/N mask with building warning device.
    (See description MK2 system).
  • Waistbelt  to hold feeding hose.
  • Feeding hose with quick couplings, cuts of 10,20,30,50, metres.
Hose is made of food quality rubber.
Couplings are specially clamped to avoid accidental slipping off.
  • Cylinderls ( See models available in the table).

RL

The RL is a compressed air line breathing apparatus, therefore the outonomy depends on the air source.  It can be connected to a compressor or to a cylinder pack with outlet pressure of 5.5 bar. If the air is delivered from a compressor, the audible warning cannot operate.

To set  up  a system with audible alarm it is necessary to have a high pressure cylinder  pack and feed the line by means of a pressure reducer type RB ( see RC description).

The RL respirators are made of:

  • Full face mask TR2002 A or TR2002 B/N
  • Demand valve with audible warning device, this works only when fed from a cylinder pack fitted with RB pressure reducer.
  • Supporting waist belt
  • Medium pressure hose with quick safety couplings.
